Car club president is ready for Show and Shine

The Columbia Valley Classic Show and Shine Car Show is on the 18 and 19 of September and looks to be one of the biggest shows the club has ever held. Last year almost 1,000 cars were registered in the event with many other spectacular cars coming to town with their owners for a weekend of fun in the sun.

The president of the Columbia Valley Classic Car Club this year is Vicki Roberts who is in her first year as president of the club. According to Vicki things have been good leading up to the event so far this year.
The club currently has about 35 members who, along with a great number of volunteers, are doing everything possible to put on a great show this time around.
“We start in March to be ready to have the show on the third weekend in September.
Volunteer help is needed to put on a show this big. If it was not for the volunteers, putting on the show would be very difficult,” Vickie said.
Vicki and her husband Keith love the classic cars and own a 1956 Bel Air which they have had for around five years.
“My husband Keith had a 1956 Mercury before and then we had to upgrade the car because we had children. We needed something with more room,” Vicki said.
Vicki admits she loves to drive the Bel Air partially because of the response the car gets from people who see it.
“It turns heads. It makes you feel good when you are cruising down the road and the car makes people turn their heads,” Vicki said.

An eight-time veteran of the car show, Vicki still loves the social aspect of the event.
“Just seeing all the vehicles and meeting new people. We get to see what people put their pride in.
There may be a lot of people we get to see once a year and it is neat to spend time with them,” Vicki said.
